Hi there my husbands family are the Selways originally from somerset England. We are just trying to find out if they are related to the Selway family who emigrated to Dillon Montana. Are the Selway hills named after them? Would love to know :D

I only had a few minutes to look around the website, but I was pleased with what I saw. (I did expect to hear about/see lots of snow.) I'll check back in before long.
Wishing you well, from Boston,
Jim Horne

Hi, my greatfather Benjamin Franklin Hamby lived by Jackson, he was killed by a bear. Was wondering, if you have any other history on this family, my grandfather was born there, his name is William Elsy Hamby 1880. Would like to hear from anyone who is related to this family or knew them....I visited there cabin back in 1982 on the Schindler ranch in jackson.....was very im-pressed with the area....thank you in advance a grand-daughter....

My family came from Bannack and Dillon. My great-great-grandfather was George D French. George's daughter, Matilda, married my great-grandfather, AJ Schumacher, superintendent of the Parrot Smelter in Butte.

I'm looking forward to visiting Bannack and Dillon again, maybe 2014.

We have enjoyed a computor study of your area, including Bannack where we will be visiting in September 2013. My wife Peggy's GG Grandfather James Young from Ontario had a sister named Catherine Orr Young who married John Innes who was a gold miner in Bannack and Argenta before settling on a farm north of Dillon. This couple are buried in the Mountain View Cemetery in Dillon. Studing their life in this wonderful area of the USA has been a joy. By the way, John Innes was one of the Vigilantes that were in Bannack and Virginia City and other places.

Admin reply: So glad to hear that you are coming to visit us in Sept. We will be happy to try to help in any way we can
