The Beaverhead County Museum maintains impressive research facilities in the newest addition to the museum.

The large photograph collection has an alphabetical and geographical index to thousands of pictures of pioneers, towns, railroad and mining, schools, churches, local business establishments and many other subjects.

The indexed archives give access to of one-of-a-kind historic documents, scrap books and photo albums.

A library includes many valuable old histories, school year books, city directories, historic newspapers, maps and books related to local occupations and interests including the “History of Beaverhead County, Volume I (1880-1920)” and “More History of Beaverhead County, Volume 2 (1880-1997)” and a recent publication of photographs with text, “Images of America Beaverhead County” by Stephen C. Morehouse and the Beaverhead County Museum.

The library has files on hundreds of local families, businesses, occupations, agriculture, mining, significant buildings and a large collection of insurance records from 1960 to 1980 which include pictures of some of the insured buildings.

The Museum Conference Room has many books on how to care for your valuable heirlooms.
